About the AmeriCorps Ohio Reading Corps Program:

The Ohio Reading Corps (ORC) is a state-wide program through the ESC with grant funding from ServeOhio, Ohio’s commission on service and volunteerism. Members of the program serve in elementary schools, providing reading support to below proficient readers in grades K-3. Members also participate in community service projects throughout the year. Members serve over 2,000 students in and around Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, and Youngstown each year.

The program values diversity – having members from various employment histories, education backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, and ages. AmeriCorps offers a unique opportunity for people to give a year of their life in service to others, while receiving extensive professional development, a monthly stipend and an Education Award to help pay back student loans or tuition costs.

The program is always looking for people who are interested in being Change-Makers.
