Happy Monday!!!!

I hope everyone was safe and warm for the extra long weekend and the shortened week last week due to the TWO calamity days we had!

The basket ball game that was scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, January 24th has been canceled.

Congratulations to the winners of the EAA Spelling Bee:

  • 3rd: 1st-Jaleel Peoples 2nd-Khloe Lockett
  • 4th: 1st-Timothy Gay 2nd-Michael Newman
  • 5th: 1st-Ja’Nyla Harris 2nd-Carter Mayo
  • 6th: 1st-Lily Kleinhenz 2nd-Xander Richards
  • 7th: 1st-Chasity Lockett 2nd-Keydenn Yisrael

It is almost February, which means it is almost time to begin our Black History Month projects at EAA! I look forward to this annual tradition each year! We try to add to it every year to make it more interesting for families and students and this year is no exception! As we did- last year, we will also have our Scholastic Book Fair at the same time as our presentations. Students will be asked to participate in alive wax museum where they will dress in the uniform or style of their person’s profession or era. I do not think I need to remind anyone, but I will go ahead and do so, that no face makeup is ever permitted to darken skin tone. We are only asking that students DRESS like the profession or the era of that individual they are researching. We will send out more information the closer the event comes.

We have a couple openings in GUITAR CLUB! Guitar Club is offered to- students in 5th grade and up. If you think your child would benefit from Guitar Club, please email both myself and Ms.Mikhail mikhail.sidney@constellationschools.com and we will get you information.

If your child participates in basketball or cheer, please make sure they have as ports bottle to fill during practice as they are working very hard and burning calories. You may also pack them a quick to eat snack like a protein or nutrigrain bar to eat before practice begins.

Your child MUST have all of their registration forms (emergency medical, pickup/drop off contacts, etc) in order to attend ANY activities or participate in ANY extracurricular activities. Please ensure you have completed all paperwork and returned it to your child’s teacher or the EAA office. Thank you!!

Families, if you need to add someone to your child’s pick up or emergency contact list, you must come into the office to do so. It is impossible for us to confirm that you are who you say you are on the phone as we can not check an ID. We will not release any student to anyone who is not already on a pickup or drop off list. We will simply call the individuals on the original document/form. We want to make sure every student is kept safe!!

Remember that Worley Ave is a ONEWAY SCHOOL ZONE during arrival and dismissal. You should always be driving to where the school is on your right hand side/passenger side. This is to keep students from crossing the street during peak times.

As always, if you need to get in touch with me quickly, please call the school or email me. Do NOT use Class Dojo. I receive so many messages between Eastside Arts and Westside Arts. I simply cannot keep up with the sheer volume of Dojo messages from two schools! I check my email throughout the evening when I am able. More than likely I will be able to get back to you within 24 hours unless I am on vacation or ill. It is impossible for me to keep up with the consistent and regular flow of messages on Class Dojo and most of them can be addressed with the classroom teacher. So if you have a general question regarding club times, if there is tutoring, school, dress down days, etc. the best way to get those questions answered quickly would be to message your child’s teacher or to call the office. If no one answers, please leave a voicemail. We will call you back as soon as we can. Thank you so much!

Thank you for all you do!!

WORD OF THE WEEK
(NOT THE SECRET WORD):

Tenebrous
adjective

  1. Dark; shadowy or obscure
Ex: “The woods have a tenebrous quality that makes me think of certain fairy tales.”

Please remember to have your phone number updated with the office! In order to receive text and call alerts, we must have your current number. You must also confirm that you want to receive messages from our school. This is very important, as it is the way I notify families of any urgent information.
