Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten Now?

Some children are simply ready earlier. They’re curious, eager to learn, social, and already showing a strong interest in school. If your child missed the traditional Kindergarten cutoff but seems ready for more, an Early Entrance Kindergarten Assessment may be the right next step.

Is Your Child Eligible?

Children with birthdays between August 20, 2026 and December 31, 2026 may be eligible for early Kindergarten entrance.

Is Your Child Ready?

Every child grows differently. This process simply helps determine whether Kindergarten is the right fit right now. You might notice your child:

  • Loves books, stories, and asking questions
  • Is comfortable in group settings with other children
  • Follows directions and routines well
  • Recognizes letters, numbers, or shapes
  • Is eager to try new things and learn independently

What the Assessment Looks Like

The assessment is designed to be comfortable, low-pressure, and entirely child-friendly. There is no stress—just a short amount of time spent with experienced educators who look at how your child learns, communicates, and interacts in a school setting.

Your child will participate in a few fun, hands-on activities using everyday objects. Rather than a formal exam, we use welcoming, interactive exercises to look at fundamental readiness signs like spatial awareness, counting, and basic letter and shape recognition.

Our goal is to understand your child as a whole learner, not just a score. We provide all the materials needed for the day, all they need to bring is their natural curiosity!

  • Encouraged to grow in confidence and independence.

Questions Families Often Ask

Can my child really start Kindergarten early in Ohio?

Yes. Ohio allows early entrance for children who show advanced readiness. If your child’s birthday falls close to the cutoff, they may qualify following our friendly assessment process.

Does my child need to know how to read?

Not at all! We do not expect reading skills. We are looking at overall social, emotional, and physical readiness. Your child will spend a short amount of time with our educators in a welcoming, hands-on environment designed to make them feel successful.

Where are assessments held?

We host assessments right at the school your child will be enrolling at. This gives you and your child a wonderful chance to see the building and get comfortable with the campus!
