Welcome Back to Elyria Community Middle
Dear ECMS Families,
We hope your family is enjoying a restful and enjoyable summer. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we are excited to welcome both our returning students and families, as well as those who are joining the ECMS community for the first time. Our staff has been working diligently to create engaging learning experiences and meaningful systems of support that will help every student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We look forward to partnering with families as we begin another year of growth, achievement, and success together.
Important Dates & Information

Academic Focus
We will continue to provide rigorous, meaningful instruction that challenges students to think critically and communicate effectively. Teachers will use data to identify strengths and areas for growth, providing targeted support and enrichment. We encourage families to monitor student progress, maintain communication with teachers, and celebrate academic growth throughout the year.
Attendance Sets the Foundation for Success
Regular attendance is directly connected to academic achievement and student confidence. Even occasional absences can disrupt learning momentum. We will work closely with families to monitor attendance and provide support when challenges arise. We ask for your partnership in building routines that support on-time, consistent daily attendance.
Building a Positive School Culture
At ECMS, students learn best in an environment that is safe, respectful, and supportive. We are committed to fostering a culture where every student feels valued and empowered. We will emphasize positive relationships, accountability, and recognition of students who demonstrate leadership, kindness, and responsibility.
Partnering With You for Student Success
Strong schools are built through strong partnerships between families and educators. By maintaining high expectations, supporting consistent attendance, and fostering positive relationships, we can ensure a successful year for all. We are excited to welcome our students back on August 19—thank you for your continued trust and partnership!
With appreciation,
Lisa Demkowicz: Assistant Principal
Jonathan Cooper: Dean of Students
