Congratulations to CS: Old Brooklyn on winning two Accelys at ACCELence2024, the annual leadership summit hosted by ACCEL Schools. The school was honored with an Accely for Outstanding Student Enrollment and Elementary School Teacher of the Year went to Rachel Sasala.

“It is an honor to recognize the staff and leadership who share our mission and strive to make quality education available to all children,” said ACCEL Schools CEO Ron Packard who presented the awards on July 10.

Rachel is a Kindergarten teacher who has been with Old Brooklyn for 11 years. She is a valuable member of the leadership team and serves as the Kindergarten Team Leader, holding weekly TBT meetings with the team. Beyond the Old Brooklyn Community, she is a member of the curriculum committee who is involved in choosing the curriculum Constellation will use to meet the new Science of Reading requirements. This past school year, her median iReady growth was 171% in Reading and 140% in Math. Parents regularly express their thanks for all she has helped their children accomplish during the year.

Recognizing the hard work and success of schools, teachers, and principals is an important tradition at ACCEL Schools, a network of 98 public charter schools serving PK-12 students. The Accelys are awarded to schools with outstanding operational and academic results including student attendance, teacher retention, enrollment growth & retention, fiscal responsibility, benchmark assessments, and state testing. Additional awards recognize outstanding teachers and administrative leaders within the ACCEL Schools network.
