Welcome Back to Old Brooklyn Community Elementary
Dear Famillies,
Welcome to another exciting school year at Constellation Schools: Old Brooklyn Community Elementary!
It is my pleasure to welcome both our returning families and those joining our Bulldog family for the very first time. I am Mrs. Cherie Kaiser, Executive Principal of Old Brooklyn Community Elementary, and I am honored to partner with you in helping your child learn, grow, and thrive this school year.
At Old Brooklyn Community Elementary, we believe that every child deserves a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment where they are challenged academically and supported socially and emotionally. We know that when schools and families work together, students achieve great things. Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education—we truly value that partnership.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19th. Our school doors will open at 7:45 a.m., and instruction begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy. Dismissal is at 3:15 p.m.
We invite you to join us for Open House on August 17th, with two convenient sessions:
- 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
During each session, there will be a mandatory family meeting beginning at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. During this time, Mrs. Jack and I will answer any questions you may have and share information about the volunteer opportunities for the new school year.
Open House is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, tour the classroom, receive important information, and learn about the exciting opportunities planned for this school year. We hope every family can attend!

Constellation Schools: Old Brooklyn Community Elementary
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome! I’m so excited to see you—whether you’re walking through our doors for the first time or coming back for another year. I’m here for you, and I mean that in every way possible.
For Our Returning Students
It’s so great to have you back! I’ve missed seeing you in the halls, and I can’t wait to hear about your summer. You know where to find me if you need anything at all—a listening ear, advice, a connection, or just someone to chat with. My door is always open.
For Our New Students
Welcome to our community! I know starting a new school can feel like a lot, but I want you to know that I’m here to help make your transition as smooth and positive as possible. Whether you’re worried about finding your way around, making friends, or anything else on your mind—come see me. There’s no such thing as a silly question or concern.
To All Our Families
You’re not just part of our school—you’re part of my mission. I’m here to support your student in every way I can, and that includes supporting you too. Need resources? Have a concern? Want to connect with our community? I’m your person. Let’s work together to make sure your family feels welcomed, heard, and supported.
A Word About Attendance—It’s My Passion!
Here’s something I’m deeply passionate about: attendance. Every single day your student is here matters. When students are present and engaged, they thrive academically, build meaningful friendships, and become part of something bigger than themselves. Attendance isn’t just about showing up—it’s about being part of our community and setting yourself up for success. I truly see the success with students who attend on a regular basis.
If your student is struggling with attendance for any reason—whether it’s transportation, health, motivation, or something else—please come talk to me. I’m not here to judge; I’m here to problem-solve and find solutions that work for your family. Together, we can remove barriers and make school a place your student wants to be.
I Am Here For You
- Academic challenges? Let’s figure it out together.
- Social or emotional needs? I’ve got your back.
- Family resources or support? I’ll help you find what you need.
- Just need someone to talk to? I am here for you and your family!
- Want to get involved in our school community? I’d love your help this year bringing back the fun events!
When every student is here, engaged, and supported, that’s when magic happens. That’s when we build a community where everyone feels they belong and can reach their full potential. This is OUR school, and we are in this together. I genuinely believe that when students and families feel supported and valued, amazing things happen. So please reach out to me. I am here for you!
Let’s make this a wonderful year!
Warmly,
Karen Jack
Dean of Students & Family & Community Engagement
