We finally had made it through a five-day, full school week, PCI families! If you did not get your student’s report card sent home on Monday, please ask your student to show you. You can also contact the front office, and we can provide another copy. We have lots of important dates coming up for the remainder of the school year, so please be sure to mark your calendars for upcoming events along with important news and information for the week(s) ahead.

  1. The PCI family learned this week that one of our students’ grandmother passed away unexpectedly in a house fire.  We share our condolences with the family, who has set up a fundraiser to help with the funeral costs.  The entire PCI family shares our deepest sympathy for their loss.
  2. This past Tuesday (January 23rd), PCI held its second successful, state-mandated lockdown drill this school year. Students and staff did an excellent job, and we had no issues during the drill.
  3. Over the next few weeks, all classes will be taking their Ohio State Test (OST) winter benchmarks. These benchmarks are NOT for a grade; HOWEVER, they are a huge component in determining where students stand in relation to how they will perform on the Ohio State Tests in April. These benchmarks will be taken during math and ELA classes, and the dates the tests will be given are listed below…
    • 1/29 & 1/30 – 6th grade math
    • 2/1 & 2/2 – 6th grade ELA and 5th grade math
    • 2/5 & 2/6 – 5th grade ELA and 4th grade math
    • 2/7 & 2/8 – 4th grade ELA
    • 2/9 & 2/12 – 5th grade Science
  4. Our second “No Technology Day” will take place this coming Wednesday, January 31st. This day was a success back in November and was started in order to increase communication and collaboration amongst students and staff. It’s going to be a great day for all!
  5. 4th grade students received their recorders during music class this week. Hopefully, you hear some great practicing (not screeching 🙂) at home!
